SGT University Empowers Nursing Staff with Cutting-Edge Newborn Care Training

Introduction

The National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC) at SGT University, in collaboration with the Paediatrics Department, successfully conducted an intensive two-day workshop on Facility-Based Newborn Care (FBNC) for in-service nursing staff. The training, held in two batches, took place from September 2-3, 2024 (Batch-A) and September 5-6, 2024 (Batch-B).


Event Highlights:

  • Participants: Nursing staff from NICU, PICU, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments.
  • Inauguration: Ms Anu Grover, Director NRSC, along with Training Coordinators Ms Ritu and Ms Jyoti Malik
  • Comprehensive Curriculum:

    • Pre-Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
    • Skill-building sessions on care at birth, case studies, biomedical waste management, drug dosing, and formula-feeding calculations
    • Hands-on simulationsli>
    • Daily ice-breaking sessions to boost engagement and enthusiasm
    • Post-OSCE and feedback session

The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, who expressed confidence in applying the newly learned methodologies in their respective areas.
