Experiential Learning at Kartavya Path: A Transformative Experience for FMMT Students

The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology (FMMT), SGT University recently provided an exceptional experiential learning opportunity for its students by taking them to Kartavya Path, Delhi, to cover the practice session of the Republic Day Parade 2025 and work on a documentary capturing the grandeur and significance of this national event.

This hands-on exposure allowed students to witness the precision, discipline, and dedication of the forces participating in the parade, providing them with valuable insights into real-time news reporting, documentary filmmaking, and visual storytelling. Covering a live event of this scale requires journalistic acumen, technical expertise, and adaptability—skills that our students honed through this practical experience.

The students were engaged in various aspects of media production, including interviewing personnel, capturing dynamic visuals, scripting narratives, and editing footage. This experience not only enhanced their journalistic and filmmaking skills but also strengthened their understanding of event documentation, field reporting, and production workflows. By immersing themselves in a professional environment, they learned how to navigate challenges such as time constraints, changing light conditions, and spontaneous storytelling moments—essential skills for media professionals.

Such industry-aligned learning initiatives ensure that students are not only equipped with theoretical knowledge but also prepared to take on the challenges of the dynamic world of journalism, digital media, and broadcasting. The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology remains committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry exposure, preparing students for successful careers in the media sector.

Kudos to our students for their enthusiasm, dedication, and outstanding efforts in documenting this historic event! Their work is a testament to the power of experiential learning, and we look forward to showcasing their incredible documentary soon. Stay tuned!
