AyurSugar Aid: A Natural Ayurvedic Remedy for Diabetes by SGT University

Abstract:

This blog talks about a project presented by Ayurveda Students of SGT University at its Synergy Tech-fest/ 2024. It showcases a natural remedy for diabetic patients.

Problem Statement:

Diabetes is a silent health crisis. Millions of people are suffering from this disease. Modern medicine has various remedies, but most of the patients are now looking for more natural solutions

How It Was Made:

Recently, we have formulated an Ayurvedic preparation known as "AyurSugar Aid," which has shown encouraging results in managing diabetic complications. It is a blend of herbs known for their medicinal properties; most of them have been selected following critical analysis of their therapeutic potential.

Ingredient Breakdown:

  • Jamun (Syzygium Cumini): This herb is used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine due to its blood sugar-lowering activity; this increases insulin levels and enhances the body's glucose tolerance.
  • Giloy (Tinospora Cordifolia): A powerful antioxidant that tones up the body's immune system and thus works toward controlling oxidative stress, a common complicating factor in diabetes.
  • Gudmar (Gymnema Sylvestre): This is called the "sugar destroyer," Gudmar curbs sugar cravings and improves insulin sensitivity.
  • Kutaki (Picrorhiza Kurroa): This herb has anti-inflammatories and is a liver protector, thus aiding in minimising diabetes problems like neuropathy and kidney damage.
  • Vijayasara (Pterocarpus Marsupium): Vijayasara is in long-standing practice to treat diabetes and heart problems. It normalises the blood sugar level and enhances the lipid profile. It is also useful in the rejuvenation of β-cells of the pancreas, which is responsible for insulin secretion.
  • Daruharidra (Berberis Aristata): This herb contains potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, preventing oxidative stress and inflammation that occurs due to diabetes.

How to Prepare:

  • Thoroughly clean the herbs to remove impurities. Dry them under the disintegrator.
  • Grind the dried herbs into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a grinder.
  • Take all the ingredients in the vessel and add 8 times the water of the dravya taken. Boil it until the Ghan is prepared.
  • When the Ghan cools down, roll it to make pills.
  • Store the pills in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

How to Consume:

Take 1-2 tablets with lukewarm water.

Benefits:

By following this Ayurvedic preparation, you can be proactive about living with diabetes and not its complications. Of course, an all-round approach to health through proper diet, exercise, and stress management is of overall importance.
