Capturing Fashion Through the Lens: 2-Day Photography Workshop at SGT University
21st February 2025

The Faculty of Design, SGT University, came alive with creativity and enthusiasm as budding photographers participated in a 2-day workshop on Fashion Photography. The workshop was led by Ms. Deeksha Bansal, a photographer and social media marketer, who shared her expertise in capturing fashion and product imagery.
The workshop was designed to give students a real-world experience, blending technical learning with hands-on practice. The first day focused on understanding the fundamentals of photography, covering the Exposure Triangle (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed) and the art of composition. "A good photo isn’t just about clicking the shutter, it’s about understanding light, angles, and storytelling," Ms. Bansal explained.
To put theory into action, students ventured outdoors on campus, experimenting with their cameras, playing with natural light, and capturing dynamic shots. The hands-on session allowed them to discover the impact of different settings in real-time, making the learning process both interactive and engaging.
Day two took things up a notch with studio-based fashion and product photography. Students worked with live models, learning how to pose, adjust lighting, and create visually compelling fashion shots. The session ended with a flat-lay product shoot, a technique widely used in e-commerce and social media marketing.
The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm of the students made the workshop a resounding success, equipping them with valuable skills for the fashion industry.
With workshops like these, SGT University continues to foster industry-ready talent, bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.
