Dr. Chayan Das
Assistant Professor

Dr. Chayan Das has over nine years of research experience, including more than three years of postdoctoral research, along with four years of teaching experience as a guest faculty at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. With a strong foundation in teaching and research, Dr. Das combines his technical expertise with a passion for education. He completed his Ph.D. at Jadavpur University, focusing on the influence of surface wettability on condensation heat transfer. His doctoral research, conducted as part of a DAE-BRNS project, involved the development of a fully automated environmental chamber to study condensation under diverse environmental conditions. In his postdoctoral tenure at Lehigh University, USA, Dr. Das developed lightweight multicomponent alloys using 3D printing and designed a predictive CFD model for laser additive manufacturing informed by phase and thermodynamic data, using ANSYS Fluent. At IIT Gandhinagar, India, his work focused on identifying optimal condensing surfaces for varying environmental conditions. He was leading a project on fouling inhibition in heat exchanger tubes, showcasing his ability to tackle both fundamental and applied research challenges. At BITS Pilani, Dr. Das contributed to a Indo-Norway collaborative project on sustainable cooling solutions. His research focuses on natural refrigeration systems tailored to India’s unique climatic conditions, providing critical insights into sustainable and energy-efficient cooling technologies.
