Farmer Workshop on Kitchen Gardening Organized at Birhera Village
Organized by: Department of Social Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FASC), SGT University
Under the Aegis of: Samajik Vikas SGT ka Prayaas (SVSP)
To promote household food security and better nutrition, the Department of Social Sciences, FASC, SGT University, organized a Farmer Workshop on Kitchen Gardening on 1st May 2025 at Birhera Village under the banner of Samajik Vikas SGT ka Prayaas (SVSP).
Participants:
- 25 enthusiastic farmers from the village
- 30 students from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences
Experts:
- Dr. Rajesh Mor, Assistant Professor, Horticulture
- Dr. Shakti Om Pathak, Assistant Professor, Soil Sciences
Coordinator:
- Dr. Manjeet Panwar, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Extension
The workshop covered important topics like vegetable selection, seasonal planting, composting, and soil health management. A field preparation of kitchen garden layout and compost pit preparation added practical value to the learning experience.
The event received great appreciation from both farmers and students and emphasized the importance of kitchen gardening in enhancing rural nutrition and self-sufficiency.
The initiative reflects SGT University’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
